Aberconwy.jpgAberconwy Equestrian Centre is a family run horse riding school established in 1993, based close to Llandudno in Conwy, North Wales. This riding school provides high quality riding lessons from BHS qualified instructors for adults and children of all experience levels.

Aberconwy Equestrian Centre facilities include 40m x 20m indoor and outdoor arenas with show jumps, and a small cross country course including a bank, logs and pallisade jumps.

'My aim is to improve both the quality and care of horses and riders in the area. Through understanding how a horse's mind works, the rider will be capable of establishing a much better partnership.' - Doris Wolters, Aberconwy Equestrian Centre owner and instructor.

Aberconwy Equestrian Centre is a British Horse Society approved riding school in north Wales.

Private, semi-private and group horse riding lessons are held 6 days a week (the riding school is closed on Sundays), for adults and children aged from 6 years upwards.

Aberconwy riding school has a selection of well-schooled, happy horses and ponies. All horses are used for dressage, show jumping and cross country, and some have winnings from affiliated competition.

Full and DIY livery is available. The yard consists of 14 modern stables built around the traditional stable yard. Horse feed, shavings, hay and straw are available on site.

Local hacking is on quiet country roads, with some off-road riding available nearby.

Short term holiday livery is also available while you take a well-earned break.

Aberconwy Equestrian Centre also runs instruction and testing for the equestrian progressive riding test, as well as BHS Assistant Instructor (AI) training, including the riding and road safety tests.

Horses are also taken for training, breaking and schooling young horses. The horse training service is tailored to the needs of you and your young horse.

Hacks are available for capable riders of all ages (able to walk, trot and canter). An annual summer 'own a pony week' is held for junior riders.

On 6th April 2008, Aberconwy Riding School will host the Finals of the BHS Young Riders Equitation Competition.

Association of British Riding Schools - approved schools in Wales

The Association of British Riding Schools (ABRS) runs Britain's longest established riding school approval scheme. It is the only organisation solely representing professional riding school proprietors. The ABRS has a wide ranging examination and testing system.

An 'Approved School' is an establishment which has been inspected and found to be satisfactory by one of the National Approved Schemes, and may be large or small. The ABRS sets a high standard for horse care, and requires instruction given to be well presented and correct in content. Riding Schools will only be ABRS approved if they meet our high standard of care and attention to both horse and rider.

British Driving Society

British Driving Society.jpgThe British carriage Driving Society aims to help and encourage carriage driving in its many forms, whether pleasure driving or competing. From beginners to more experienced drivers, the British Driving Society has a panel of qualified carriage driving instructors throughout the country and runs a proficiency test programme, which is respected world-wide as a basis for safe carriage driving.

The BDS in Wales is very active, organizing carriage driving events and carriage driving shows throughout Wales including special events for the young driver, and pleasure carriage rides in the Crychan Forrest, Wales. The BDS has a Concordat with The Forestry Commission to promote safe off road riding.
